Country Music Christmas TV Specials 2020

by | Dec 8, 2020

Country music fans have definitely made Santa’s nice list this year! We’re getting special after special featuring all of our favorite country stars. And Nashline Country is here to break down the can’t-miss TV this holiday season.

First up, we’ve got ABC’s “CMA Country Christmas” airing on Monday, November 30, at 9/8 C. Country’s cutest couple, superstar Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins, host the festive celebration – and yes, Thomas Rhett will perform. You’ll see performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, and Darius Rucker with Lindsey Stirling. They are all gonna SLEIGH it for sure!

What would the holiday season be without a comfy couch, freshly baked cookies, and a Hallmark movie or two? Or twenty…it’s a judge-free zone here. You’ll want to tune in for A Nashville Christmas Carol, airing now. It features Sara Evans, Raelynn, Wynonna, and Kix Brooks. Brad Paisley’s wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, also stars in the heartfelt movie.

The iconic Christmas in Rockefeller Center happens Wednesday, December 2, on NBC, and some of our favs are performing! Brett Eldredge joins Kelly Clarkson for a show-stopping duet, and we’re treated to a Dan + Shay song, plus, Dolly Parton performs. We’ve got a whole lot of Dolly in this blog, so hang on!

We’re counting down the days until Carrie Underwood’s “My Gift: A Christmas Special” begins streaming. You can watch Carrie deliver her holiday renditions via HBO starting on December 3. Special guest John Legend joins her for what is expected to be a memorable moment.

A Holly Dolly Christmas, indeed! The queen of everything, Dolly Parton, spotlights her new Christmas album with a CBS special premiering on December 6. And her Netflix musical Christmas on the Square is available to stream now.  Also, just throwing this out there, how about Dolly for Entertainer of the Year next year?

And for all the lovely residents of Nashville, or for those of you traveling to visit for the weekend, be sure to catch the 93rd annual Nashville Christmas Parade airing locally. Although it’s virtual, you can still see performers Daniele Bradbery, Jimmie Allen, Oak Ridge Boys, Lauren Alaina, Mitchell Tenpenny, Runaway June, Shy Carter, and Lindsay Ell during the December 5, event. Also, our holiday hero (we’re not talking about Santa here), Dolly Parton, is ALSO making a special holiday greeting during the program.

Get your requests in now Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will host a special fan-driven TV special where you choose all the holiday-themed songs! Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood: Live a Holiday Event airs December 20, on CBS. Tune into Garth’s weekly Facebook show Inside Studio G for more details.
