The colder temps, twinkling lights, and the sounds of holiday tunes coming from a vinyl record player. Sounds like a cozy way to kick off the Christmas season, right? We’ve done the work for you and have gathered the best country music Christmas albums in 2020 for you!
Dolly Parton – A Holly Dolly Christmas
Let’s start with the queen of everything, the incomparable Dolly Parton. This twelve-song collection is her first album of Christmas music in 30 years! And she’s brought along plenty of her friends like Michael Buble, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, and Willie Nelson – now that’s an all-star lineup. A track with her brother, Randy Parton, provides a special sibling moment.
Carrie Underwood – My Gift
With her first-ever Christmas album, Carrie delivers a perfect present for those fans awaiting this project.
“I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection. For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters,” Carrie says in a press release.
Terri Clark – It’s Christmas Time…Cheers!
Canadian Country Hall of Famer Terri Clark says, “I resisted making and releasing a Christmas album for many years even though I’m a big Christmas person and love the music of the season. It’s been done by the best in so many amazing ways, and I wanted to wait until I felt I could make it special, be excited about it, and do it justice in my own way. Having The Time Jumpers to collaborate with and the wonderful guest artists featured – it did just that. I am eager for everyone to hear the record that was almost 2 years in the making but took 25 years to get around to.”
Larry Stewart – Every Day is Christmas
One of the most recognizable voices in country music, Restless Heart lead singer Larry Stewart ventures on a solo album full of holiday cheer.
“As we chose these very musical, melodic and contemporary standards written by great artists, we had to peel back and make the styles of each song work for me,” he continues. “I’m so proud of the way my producer, Brent Rader, and I were able to achieve those goals so much more than we first imagined.”
Both Maddie & Tae and Runaway June have been putting the final touches on their Christmas EPs.
“We Need Christmas” is a fitting title for Maddie & Tae’s collection featuring a mix of traditional holiday favorites, as well as newly penned selections.
With member Natalie Stovall recently added to Runaway June, the band went into the studio to give fans new material. “When I Think About Christmas” has that down-home country feel with plenty of fiddle sounds courtesy of Natalie.
Lady A’s “On This Winter’s Night” gets the deluxe treatment featuring covers of Paul McCartney, The Beach Boys, and Ray Charles. Look for an original song titled “Christmas Through Your Eyes,” too!
“Regifted” from Ty Herndon is exactly what it sounds like…classic holiday songs repackaged with some new treats! A special duet called “Orphans of God” showcases the country singer with Kristin Chenoweth and Paul Cardall.
